Screen Actors Guild Awards 2014: Red Carpet

The Screen Actors Guild Awards was on Saturday, January 18th which means that we have a lot of great gowns to discuss. Here comes another Red Carpet Post. . . I have to admit that I love the Red Carpet because I get to write about all those gorgeous gowns!

Here are my picks for the best-dressed at the Screen Actors Guild Awards (in alphabetical order).

Amy Adams looks stunning in this royal blue Antonio Berardi gown. At first, it looks like an ordinary dress, but the plunging neckline and the jeweled detail int he waist add some movement and just the right amount of sparkle to the dress.  The all time classic updo and ruby red lip stick brings out her beautiful face.

Cate Blanchett always takes a risk when it comes to fashion. I am sure she will get mixed reviews about this choice but I think that this is a fashion-forward dress. She looks gorgeous in this soft blush Givenchy gown with metallic pink sequins around the waist.

Emilia Clarke definitely kept it simple. She didn't even wear almost any jewellery but she didn't need it. She wore a metallic bronze one-shoulder Calvin Klein Collection gown. The gown fits her very well, it looks like the metallic bronze is just gliding through her shoulder.

Emilia Clarke - Calvin Klein

Jennifer Lawrence chose a Christian Dior gown which was one of my faves throughout the awards show, especially after the mixed reviews about her Golden Globes dress. Even though this is a classical strapless dress, the sequins really make it stand out. The multi-colored sequins add a different kind of dimension to her look.

Lupita Nyong'o continued her winning streak (after the cape-cut Golden Globes gown) by rocking out this stunning Gucci Column gown. Not only the flowers around her neck look gorgeous, but also the color looks absolutely amazing on her. This gown left me just speechless.

Kelly Osbourne looks fabulous in this slimming deep purple pelated Zac Posen gown and I am not just saying this because purple is my color. She didn't need any necklaces or any earrings because her stylish hair just completed the look. Well done Kelly Osbourne!

Of course, these weren't the only gowns of the night. I think it's safe to say that blue was the color of this Awards Show. Different shades of blue will definitely be seen on the Red Carpet through out the year of 2014. Here are some of them . . .

Oprah Winfrey - Badgley Mischka
Julianne Nicholson - Philosophy

Anna Chlumsky - Sophie Theallet
Jennifer Garner - Max Mara

Mindy Kaling - David Meister

Morena Baccarin - Monique L'Huillier

Anna Gunn - Monique L'Huillier
Anna Gunn - Edie Parker

Absolutely in love with this clutch by Edie Parker. I think it's very stylish, cute, clever & humorous.
Br Ba ==> Breaking Bad

Black gowns on the Red carpet is like a woman's tuxedo. If you don't know what-to-wear to a formal event and you can't go wrong (most of the time) with the choice of black. Some these ladies proved this really well . . .

Tina Fey looks gorgeous in this black gown by Oscar de la Renta.  She is sharing the spotlight with he cute little daughter Alice. A great way to spend some time with your daughter!

Tina Fey - Oscar de la Renta

If you don't want to wear a plain black gown, you can characterize your gown by adding little details like transparent patches, sequins, gold details or just simply different colors. But be careful adding colors can be a little tricky not every color goes well with black.

Melissa Rauch - Rubin Singer
Sophie Turner - Dolce & Gabbana

Rosci Diaz - Gelareh Mizrahi
Pauley Perrette

Julia Louis-Dreyfus - Monique L'Huilier
Michelle Dockery - J. Mendel

Meryl Streep - Fred Leighton
Helen Mirren - Escada

Sophie McShera - David Meister
Sufe Bradshaw

Sarita Choudhury - Nanette Lepore
Katrina Bowden - Badgley Mischka

Like I said you can't go wrong with the choice of black or at least most of time time! You have to be careful when picking out your gown for a Red Carpet event because what you are wearing should be appropriate for an Awards show. By appropriate, I mean stylish, classic and chic. I think that these ladies should have had a second thought for their choice of attire this evening.

Emma Thompson - Vintage
Mariah Carey - Saint Laurent

The Red Carpet is not really a ''red carpet'' without the color red. No need to say anything other than that they look gorgeous.

Holly Hunter - Randi Rahm
Renee Bargh - Steven Khalil

JoBeth Williams
Elisabeth Moss - Michael Kors

I usually like anything and everything but there was one dress that took a great fashion risk and it was Kerry Washington in custom-made Prada. I think that it was a hit-or-miss kind of risk and we will see what the critics are thinking about her choice of dress.
