Golden Globes 2014 : Red Carpet

The long waited 71st Golden Globe Awards was yesterday, January 12th 2014. Like everyone else, I was watching the show not only for the most unpredictable awards, but also for the exciting and much talked about Red Carpet Fashion.

Hollywood's most beautiful and most handsome stars walk the Red Carpet every year while the cameras record their every step with the eyes of all the critics (including you) on them.

The most-watched Golden Globes' Red Carpet hosts not only the stars, but also the designers with their creative gowns, the latest in purses, shoes, accessories and make-up & hair trends.

So, let's take a look at the first Red Carpet Gowns of 2014…

Sofia Vergara - Zac Posen

Sofia Vergara was one of the most elegant women of Red Carpet this year. I think that this is a picture of perfection. She is wearing a Zac Posen dress with Brian Atwood shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. The turquoise necklace with the red lipstick completes her look. Who said that black is the color of ''death'' because she wore this black dress with a huge smile that makes you feel ''alive''.

She wasn't the only one choosing black for the Red Carpet. Most stars chose this color, some stars wore it in a simple way, some complemented their gowns with gold details, some with florals and others with sequins.

Amy Poehler - Stella McCartney
Emma Roberts - Lanvin

Jessica Chastain - Givenchy
Leslie Mann - Dolce & Gabbana

Emma Thompson - Lanvin
Monica Potter - Romona Keveza

Uma Thurman - Atelier Versace

Elisabeth Moss - J. Mendel
Cate Blanchett - Armani

Another must-have color of the Red Carpet was of course the red itself. Lupito Nyong'o wore definetely one of the most-talked gowns of the evening. She wore a red cape-cut silk Ralph Lauren dress with a vintage 4.0 carat yellow gold diamond and a vintage 11.0 carat cushion cut diamond ring, all from Fred Leighton.

But I have to admit that as soon as I saw her I was reminded of Gwyneth Paltrow wearing Tom Ford in 2012 Oscars. Even though they wore similar cut dresses, they both looked stunning. Lupito had a sexy look by revealing her shoulders, while Gwyneth had more of a settled look with the asymmetrical neckline.

Emma Watson - Christian Dior
Julia Louis-Dreyfus - Narciso Rodriguez

Another trend of the 71st Golden Globe Awards was black & white dresses. Some complemented black with white, others complemented white with black. Both ways work great…

Julia Roberts - Dolce & Gabbana

Heidi Klum - Gucci
Zosia Mamet - Reem Acra

Jennifer Lawrence - Christian Dior
Emilia Clarke - Proenza Schouler

Baby-Bump Style… Here are the stylish soon-to-be mommies of the Red Carpet. All three mothers looked glamourous with their baby bump but Olivia Wilde looked stunning in this green beaded, figure-hugging gown from Gucci.

Drew Barrymore - Monique L'Huilier     Kerry Washington - Balenciaga        Olivia Wilde - Gucci

Who said white is the color of the weddings? It could also be the color of the Red Carpet and this statement was proved by these beautiful stars who chose the color white for their gowns.

Robin Dearden
Bryan Cranston
Seth Meyers
Alexi Ashe

Margot Robbie - Gucci
Paula Patton - Stephanie Rolland

Rashida Jones - Fausto Puglisi

Bold, bright colors were also displayed on the Red Carpet that evening. They did remind me a little bit of Crayola colors but don't you think that they look striking in those vibrant colors?

Shaun Robinson
Nancy O'Dell - Marchesa

Maria Menounos - Max Azria
Taylor Schiling - Thakoon

Ariel Winter - Mikel D
Jessica Lange

Lena Dunham - Zac Posen
Melissa Rauch - Romona Keveza

Pretty in pastels… This season's most stylish colors are the pastel colors. It will be a great way to beat the heat this upcoming summer of 2014. While we are on the subject, let me add this: If you haven't seen the new spring/summer '14 collection of Christian Louboutin with pastel colors, please take a look…

Kristin Chenoweth - Aiisha Ramadan

Reese Witherspoon - Calvin Klein
Helen Mirren - Jenny Packham
Kyra Sedgwick - J. Mendel

Here comes the "leg-pose" . . . Who can think of a red carpet without a leg-pose? Here is Amber Heard rocking the Angelina Jolie leg on the Golden Globes' Red Carpet. Angelina Jolie flashed her leg at the Oscars 2 years ago but did she think that this pose will get this much attention? She had to know that some day this will be an iconic gesture of the Red Carpet.

Amber Heard - Atelier Versace       Angelina Jolie - Versace
                                                           (Oscars 2012)

For some reason, I thought these dresses looked alike. I don't know why, just a feeling…

Aubrey Plaza - Oscar de la Renta
Julie Bowen - Carolina Herrera

Sandra Bullock - Prabal Gurung
Taylor Swift - Carolina Herrera

Silver - How to shine even brighter on the big day. . . If you are looking for a great way to sparkle, nothing beats a silver gown with laces, beads or a little cleavage.

Last but not least : Men of the Red Carpet. All of the eyes may have been on the ladies, but there is no doubt that men were as glamorous as the ladies on the Red Carpet. Some wore classic black tuxedos, but others spiced up their look with accessories.
